Great dining characterizes food at Kokanee

You'll find way more than the traditional franks and peanuts at this year's Kokanee Glacier Challenge.

Kokanee Glacier Organizing Committee member Roberta Bobicki said players and fans should look for new offerings ranging from exotic wraps to gourmet popcorn and cool, refreshing shaved ice alongside the tournament's excellent choices in Chinese, Italian and Greek cuisine.

And, for the traditionalists, there will be plenty of hotdogs, smokies, hamburgers and fries, too.

There are nine enterprises offering tasty treats to the ball players and fans gathering here this weekend.

Ron Kwong of Ping’s Wandering Wok is whipping up Chinese food combos, chicken wings and deep fried oysters.

Luna Taverna is offering souvlakis as is Zala's which is also adding pizza, beef dishes and mini-donuts to their menu.

Meanwhile, Dennis Berarducci of Denito’s is offering the hungry masses more traditional ball park foods such as smokies, hot dogs, burgers and home-made fries as well as bacon-and-eggers for breakfast.

One of the new businesses in town, Little Caesar's, is offering pizza pies to the hungry hordes while Gord McKee will be providing a variety of seafood dishes.

Also new this year are iced mochas and delicious shaved ice treats from Shave Ice while Mountain Air Kettle Corn will have all the gourmet popcorn you can eat.

If poutine — that traditional French-Canadian melange of curds, gravy and French fries — and haystacks are your things then you'll definitely want to hit PK Fries for their scrumptious fare. Bon appétit!
