The Big Bang! |
| The bigger the bang the better the show. At least that's how Wade Rota feels. Revelstoke's fire chief had a fast answer ready about his favourite part of the annual fireworks show during Glacier Challenge weekend.
On Saturday night all eyes will be fixed on the night sky over the Columbia River when the first exploding rockets and mortars rain fire down onto the water surface. Rota cautioned that the fireworks display does depend on suitable weather conditions and a lack of technical glitches. But he is confident that the Big Bang will go off without a hitch. The weather gods seem to like the Glacier Challenge fireworks show. Plus master pyrotechnician Pat Stanley will drive up from Nakusp to oversee Rota and fellow fireman John Scarcelli Jr. — both certified fireworks technicians — in setting up and launching the various mortars and star shells and help them keep the gremlins at bay. |
