| Born to be wild on a real Harley! | |
| Want a truly memorable souvenir of your Revelstoke Glacier Challenge experience? Would a Harley fit the bill? The Revelstoke Rotary Club is holding its annual charity raffle and first prize is a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The draw for the winning tickets in the raffle is at Centennial Park during the last day of Glacier Challenge weekend and the proceeds all go towards local charities and community projects. |
| "Last year we made $32,000," said spokesman Chester Beerling. "If we sell out this year, that would make it $32,000 again." Last year's raffle money went towards helping equip the local Highway Rescue Society's new emergency truck with a fire foam unit and other life-saving equipment. This year's beneficiary of raffle money will be a local neighbourhood parks improvement project. Past Rotary raffles have helped support such worthy projects like the new cancer out-patient clinic in Kelowna and the purchase of a computer-assisted drawing (CAD) program for Revelstoke Secondary School to help students with career goals in drafting, architectural design, and the growing field of film animation. | ![]() |
| Participants in Glacier Challenge have always been enthusiastic and generous supporters of the raffle. "We can generate $15,000 to $20,000 down there so it (Glacier Challenge) is pretty big for us," said Beerling. Profitable too sometimes for some of Revelstoke's guests who join in the Glacier Challenge fun during the long August weekend. Last year's Harley motored off to Calgary with its happy new owner. | |
